Man Cave Decor: Pro Tips
ElephantStock's interior design expert Elimar Lobo Sáenz shares her tips for crafting the perfect masculine space:
"Creating a sophisticated, masculine scape by combining clean lines and functionality. Embrace personal items that hold significant meaning, but don’t go overboard with clutter. A masculine space usually has a very classic, simplified design where texture is more important than color or busy decor. Select organic textures and materials such as wood, metals, and natural fabrics like jute or wool."

Best-Selling Man Cave Wall Ideas
Decorate in spades – literally! One of our best-selling prints is this vintage-inspired multi-panel poker print. It’s no surprise that a poker-inspired print is a favorite for man cave decor. This classic game is a favorite among the guys. Pair this set of cards with traditional, chic furniture. Opt for vintage pieces and masculine finishes like leather and wood. Choose a multi-panel piece for an extra-dynamic look. Add hints of organic greenery for a callback to 80s poker lounges. Stick to warm tones to avoid a space that feels cold and unwelcoming. Use whisky as inspiration for your overall color palette.

Man Cave Decor: Pro Tips
“Any designer will tell you that the most common mistake homeowners make, is hanging their art too high. Large wall art should be hung at eye level. While it may seem low at first glance, eye-level artwork is a longstanding gallery standard. Guests should not have to crane their necks to look at your prized prints. Your artwork should be in plain view, and blend seamlessly with the rest of your interior. If you’re hanging a piece of art above a sofa, leave no more than 6”-8” in between the top of the couch and the bottom of the print.”

Man Cave Wall Art: Sizes
To choose the best canvas size for your man cave, we’ve put together an ultimate wall art size guide. Here are a couple excerpts to get you started:
Your wall art should take about 60% to 75% of the available empty wall space, the portion not covered by moldings or furniture. Measure the height and width of the wall. Now, multiply the measurements by both 0.6 and 0.75. As a result, you will get the range of canvas print sizes to suit the space.
Wall art that you want to hang over furniture, such as a fireplace, a bed or a couch, should be between 2/3 and 3/4 of the furniture's width. To measure the ideal art size above your furniture, consider this example: If your couch is 6 feet wide, multiply it by 0.66 and 0.75. You need a canvas between 3.96 feet and 4.5 feet wide to fit impressively above the couch.

Add Style to Small Spaces
Follow our expert tips to maximize style in your space. Whether your man cave is large or small, there are several ways to make it look chic and contemporary.
Man Cave Decor: Pro Tips
Read this tip from our article on how to make the most of small spaces:
“It’s all in the details when it comes to making a tiny space feel like a home. Because you can’t decorate with many pieces of furniture, focus on wall decor. Hang floating shelves to display your favorite accessories, and use antiques to add character to your space. Opt for hanging plants to add a hint of nature to your interior. Most importantly, use wall art for the ultimate space-saving decor.
Expert designer Elimar Lobo Sáenz shares man cave decor tip:
“These are the three main mistakes to avoid when decorating a masculine space:
- Overdoing your decor. Embrace minimalism and select a few stand-out pieces of decor.
- The use of a single texture. For instance, avoid using exclusively leather or only wood. While texture is important, variation is equally crucial.
- Don’t stifle your personality for style. Let your interests shine through and create a compelling conversation space.”
