Frequently Asked Questions

Make your entryway pop with a piece of décor that makes a statement while still looking timeless. Your entryway is a great space to experiment with trends, but make sure to choose a trend that won’t immediately go out of style. A great way to play with trending décor is to incorporate a style that is making a comeback. That will help you blend the classic with the contemporary. Styles come and go, but some décor is so iconic that it will never look dated. A super easy way to elevate your space is with wall art. Consider a trendy twist on a traditional artist from the 20th century. Our pop art collection inspired by Andy Warhol will brighten your entryway and show your guests your knowledge of design.

Expert Entry Wall Décor Tips

Bright colors are big for 2024! If you’re nervous about adding color to your main living space, your entryway will still make a statement without affecting the rest of your rooms. Make sure to fill the entire wall space in your opening hallway to avoid an awkward, barren entryway. A panoramic print is a great way to maximize space without overwhelming your wall, and multi-panel prints can be arranged according to your unique layout. Place an entryway table with stylish décor under your piece of chosen wall art. Feel free to mix and match different styles as long as you are intentional about your choices to avoid a chaotic overall look.

Defining Modern Entryway Wall Décor

Speaking of space-themed décor, try a more mystical approach. If photorealistic prints aren’t your style, go for something a little more ethereal. Astrology might not be as scientific as astronomy, but it makes for fun décor! Whether you love to wax poetic about star maps, or you just love the mystical aesthetic, we have tons of wall art to bring magic to your entry space. Once again, it’s a good idea to offset the dark mysticism with light, neutral décor. Contrast black, navy blue, and gold with colors like ivory, beige, and taupe. Not only are our dreamy astrological prints nice to look at, but they’re also trending in a major way! Curate an up-to-date interior by adding a celestial print to the entry of your home. For an extra-trendy twist, go with a multi-panel mystical print for a contemporary look.

Entryway Wall Décor: Pro Tips

If you’ve decided on a multi-panel print or a canvas set, check out this stylish tip from our expert article on hallway and entryway design:

“Gallery walls will never go out of style, just ask the French! This traditional décor method has stood the test of time for a reason. Hang a collection of your favorite family photos and artsy prints all over the wall of your choice.”

When it comes to hanging your multi-panel canvas, follow these pro-guidelines:

* Width: for all layouts, we recommend leaving 1" space between each panel when hung, for the best airy but tied-together look! If the gap is too big or too small, you'd lose the effect of the split canvas.

* Height: the height of the rest of the panels depends on the layout you selected. Some layouts are symmetrical, and some layouts resemble a wave and feature different heights. In general, be consistent! For example, if you hung the left panel 3" lower than the middle panel, be sure to hang the right panel in the same proportion. Use your ruler and pencil to measure the right height!

Foyer Wall Art: Size Guide

For help choosing the perfect canvas size, read these handy passages from our ultimate wall art size guide:

Your wall art should take about 60% to 75% of the available empty wall space, the portion not covered by moldings or furniture. Measure the height and width of the wall. Now, multiply the measurements by both 0.6 and 0.75. As a result, you will get the range of canvas print sizes to suit the space.

For instance, if your blank wall is 9 feet tall and 5 feet wide, multiply 9 by 0.6 to get the low end of the ideal height range. Then multiply 9 by 0.75 to get the high end of the ideal height range. Do the same for your wall's 5 feet width. The ideal height of the canvas would be 5.4 feet - 6.75 feet and the ideal width would be 3 feet - 3.75 feet.

Large wall art that measures 36 inches by 75 inches in height and width can create a polished, classic look in your hallway or entryway. This wall art size works well in long hallways as well as over your entertainment area.

Entryway Wall Décor: Pro Tips

Energy flow is a major consideration when decorating the entrance to your home. Consider this expert tip from our article on Feng Shui:

“The entrance to your home is super important when it comes to Feng Shui. Your front door is the main channel for positive energy to enter your space. You should not block the area positioned directly in front of the door, or good energy won’t be able to effortlessly flow in and out. As you open your front door and step inside, your home should have an ample amount of space. You want this area to feel airy and open, so positive energy can fill your entire house.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How should I decorate a large entryway wall?

A: If you’re lucky enough to have an expansive wall right when guests step into your home, take advantage of it! A blank wall in your entryway is a major design faux-pas. Q: How do I decorate one entryway wall?

A: Create an eye-catching accent wall in your entryway. First, paint the accent wall in a warm and welcoming color. This will give you more freedom with your wall décor options. Choose a piece of wall art that represents the overall aesthetic of your home. If you only have one wall to decorate, show off your personality and make it count!
